The team would also like to send out a huge thank-you to all those U16 girls that came up to play with them during the season: Starr Levy, Kaitlyn Eisnor & Kelsey Cornelius. You girls were just as much a part of the team as anyone else!
The girls were ranked 2nd in league play. Saturday, August 16th faced them up against South Shore BMO's. Playing a tough team, regulation time expired at a 1-1 tie. Going into overtime the girls came through, one up on the BMO's with 9 minutes remaining. With that win, they went on the next day to play the leagues top ranked team. West Nova Fuels gave them a run for their money. 0-0 at half, the girls knew they had to step up. Scoring one no more than a minute into the second half was all they needed to win the game. They played their hearts out till the final whistle, clenching the championship!
After the game the medals were awarded to both the second & first placed teams. The top player awards were handed out as well with one of our own, Rachel Broome winning the top defender award for the league! Congratulations!
The Under 18 girls moved on to play August 23rd & 24th against the best teams in the province. Playing Halifax County United first game on Saturday, left the girls with a 3-0 loss. Home team, Dartmouth United beat the girls 4-0 in another brutally hot game that day. Cape Breton came set to play - a battle had the girls coming up just short of a win, 4-3 being the final score. Overall the girls had a great weekend and were very pleased to have gotten the opportunity to represent the South Shore in provincial play-downs.

The Boys were ranked 1st in league play, giving them the honour of hosting the District Play-offs. They were up against West Nova Fuels in the 1st vs 2nd game Monday, August 18th. A 3-0 win had them sitting firmly with a place in the championship game Wednesday night. Playing off against Bridgewater in their second & final game - another 3-0 win had tied the knot, with gold medals hanging around their necks.
To officially win a spot in provincials the boys had to play off against Yarmouth with a home-and-home game. These two games would determine weither the boys would advance to Provincials August 30th & 31st. A well-battled 4-4 tie on Saturday in New Ross had them looking strong as they headed to Yarmouth the next morning. A 6-0 loss to the Clippers in a tough, and very equal match ended off the season. Congratulations on the honor of winning your District boys! Great season!
