Brittany 17, from New Ross, had played soccer with the New Ross Club for many years. Ever since our Club began ! Sara   22, had played with the Chester Soccer Club for many years and was on the team when the U16 girls won the provincial title. She then joined the New Ross Women’s soccer team while still in high school and played on the team for the last several years.

The women’s team, with the unanimous support of the Board of Directors of the New Ross Soccer Club, will retire the girls’ jersey numbers, “7” and “12”.   Teams from all over have done acts of remembrance. When the New Ross women’s team participated in the play-off’s at the end of their “indoor” season, every participating team in the Valley League wore black arm bands to show their respect for Brittany and Sara and their support for their fellow soccer players. There are more special tributes for the two girls being planned by our soccer club, and other soccer clubs, which we will update you on as things get finalized.
Brittany & Sara are beside each other in the back row, 3rd & 4th from the left.
As a Club we wanted to honor the memory of these
young women and reflect their love of soccer and
commitment to the sport. In addition to this web page,
the New Ross Soccer Club has decided to initiate a special
award in their memory. This award will be presented at
our closing ceremonies. This will go to the young woman in our soccer club who best exemplifies outstanding effort, team spirit and sportsmanship. We are pleased to say that the Chester Soccer Club has decided to have an annual tournament in Sara’s honour. The first Sara Hamm Memorial Tournament will be July 27, 28 and 29th, 2007 for the U14 boys and girls teams in the area who wish to attend.

Brittany was an avid player with the New Ross Co-ed Youth teams. She then went on the join the Senior B women's team where she was known as small, but mighty.

An award in her memory will be presented to one female player throughout the tournament who best exemplifies outstanding effort, team spirit and sportsmanship. To present this award will be the coach of the New Ross Women's team, Wade Hall.
